Oracle Database Administrator

Birbank is looking for a skilled Oracle Database Administrator to join our DevOps DBA team. You will help manage and optimize our Oracle database infrastructure, ensuring reliability, performance, and security. This role is ideal for an experienced DBA who is confident with day-to-day operations and has some exposure to advanced topics such as high availability and performance tuning.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).

At least 3 years of work experience as an Oracle DBA in production environments.

Practical experience with Oracle 12c, 18c, or 19c (11g knowledge is a plus).

Good skills in SQL, PL/SQL, and basic performance tuning.

Familiarity with Oracle Data Guard, RMAN, ASM, RAC basics.

Comfortable working on Linux/Unix systems.

Understanding of networking, storage, and backup fundamentals.

Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Oracle OCA or OCP certification.

Exposure to Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).

Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database systems.

Perform routine tasks such as backup & recovery, space management, and user administration.

Support database migrations and upgrades under guidance from senior DBAs.

Monitor database performance and assist in tuning SQL queries and indexes.

Identify common performance issues and escalate complex cases when needed.

Apply and maintain database security policies and user access controls.

Support compliance activities (e.g., CIS, PCI-DSS) under senior guidance.

 Assist in managing Oracle Data Guard and RAC / RAC One Node setups.

Participate in disaster recovery tests and failover simulations.

Apply database patches and minor upgrades following approved procedures.

Help minimize downtime during planned maintenance.

Work closely with application and infrastructure teams on database-related issues.

Provide documentation and knowledge sharing for team members.
