Head of Data engineering and technology CoE is part of the newly established Data & AI Office of Bir Ecosystem and is responsible for defining, designing, and implementing the target ecosystem-wide data platform. This includes assessing the current landscape, determining the appropriate architectural approach (e.g. consolidation, layered architecture, federated model, or data mesh), and leading its phased realization.

The role provides overall leadership and coordination for the run and evolution of multiple existing data platforms, ensuring stable, secure, and reliable operations.

The role develops enterprise-grade data engineering capabilities across the Bir ecosystem, overseeing both day-to-day platform stability and long-term architectural development. It requires strong technical depth combined with organizational leadership and close collaboration with Data & AI Ops, Data Governance, AI Enablement, and Analytics and Science teams across Bir Ecosystem.

• 10+ years in data engineering, platform engineering, or large-scale system architecture
• 7+ years experience of managing and developing engineering/technology teams
• Proven experience designing data platforms (on-premise or cloud)
• Hands-on experience with datawarehouse, lake, lakehouse, APIs, and Data infrastructure
• Strong stakeholder management across executive and technical audiences

• Own the end-to-end architecture of the Bir Ecosystem data platforms, including current-state assessment, target-state definition, selection of the appropriate architectural model (e.g. layered architecture, federated model, or data mesh), and execution of the phased transformation roadmap
• Establish and enforce data engineering and data architecture standards to ensure scalability, reliability, and long-term sustainability across all business domains
• Ensure secure and scalable cross-domain data integration, enabling ecosystem-level use cases such as Customer 360 and Merchant 360
• Represent the data architecture domain within the Enterprise Architecture Committee and ensure alignment with ecosystem-wide architectural principles
• Lead all major platform technology decisions, including vendor evaluation, selection, and long-term partnership strategies
• Ensure effective partnership with Data & AI Ops for deployment, monitoring, incident management, and lifecycle governance of data pipelines and platform components
• Lead and align multiple, established data engineering teams operating on different platforms, standards, and delivery models, driving their harmonization into a coherent ecosystem engineering function.
• Define structure, capability model, and performance expectations aligned with ecosystem priorities
